# Runtime Release

The **WEM Runtime** is the environment that **executes your applications** and serves them to end users. It interprets the Portal Definitions created in the Modeler and turns them into live, responsive web applications.\
Runtime releases focus on **platform stability, performance, security, and foundational features** required by upcoming Modeler updates.

#### **Release schedule**

WEM releases a new Runtime **every other month**, always **the month before** the Modeler release.\
This ensures that the Runtime environment is fully prepared with all underlying capabilities needed for the next Modeler update.

#### **Update process**

Runtime updates are automatically performed by WEM on all **shared cloud environments**.\
For **private cloud installations**, Runtime updates are carried out by the project's **technical partner**, following the guidelines provided by WEM.
