Manage Projects & Workspaces

WEM is working on a new MyWEM / Accounts Portal, that will change the way you can manage account settings, workspaces, projects etc.
Until that new Portal is available, most management features are within Modeler itself.
From the Modeler Start Page, you can access your Projects in several ways:
From the list of Recent Projects that you've worked on
From the Workspace-ordered list showing all workspaces and projects that you have access to.
Search a project by name - this will filter the list of workspaces and show all projects matching the search value.
To create a new Project from scratch, click the button [+ New project]
- this will start a wizard to guide you step by step.
Click on button [Manage projects & Workspaces]
to access management features on your projects and workspaces - based on permissions you have.
The [...]
action buttons to the right, lead to the item-specific actions. The structure you see here, is:
User (you)
Workspace
Projects
Click the [...]
action button on the line of your user (the person-icon and your name). The Create Workspace
option appears. You only have to provide a name and you will automatically be the Owner of this workspace with all permissions.
The Edit account
option is there as well, with limited options (full name, receive notifications, change password).
Click the [...]
action button on a workspace line to see the Workspace Action menu (see picture).
Action | Description |
---|---|
Create project | Creates a new project within this workspace - starts the step-by-step wizard. |
Rename | Rename the workspace |
Add design template collection | Add a collection of Design Templates to make them available to the portals in the projects within the workspace. This requires a Token that can be created using the WMT tool. |
SMTP settings | You can add and manage specific SMTP servers which then can be used within the Portal Settings of the Projects within this workspace. See SMTP Settings. |
Manage users | Add other users (by their Modeler account-email) via Invite and manage permissions. See User Roles Scheme. On this level you can manage user's Workspace Permissions that apply to all projects in workspace. |
Leave workspace | Remove yourself from the workspace. There always has to be an Owner of the workspace, so if you are the owner, you first need to change the ownership to another account before you can leave. |
Delete workspace | This will mark the workspace as deleted and will make all projects unavailable in Modeler. NOTE: This will NOT remove any portal from the Runtime! The applications in the Runtime will continue to work. Read our forum post on how to take a portal offline. |
Click the [...]
action button on a project line to see the Project Action menu (see picture).
Action | Description |
---|---|
Rename | Rename the project. |
Manage users | Add other users (by their Modeler account-email) via Invite and manage permissions. See User Roles Scheme. This will affect the users' permissions on specific project level (workspace-level permissions supersede). |
Grant Support Access | With this option you can grant access to WEM Support, to allow WEM Support team members to access your project and all its assets. See allow support access. |
Copy Project | This action creates a new Project (you provide a name) within the same Workspace. It will then copy all assets in the source project. This option is often used to manually create a backup (point-in-time snapshot) of a project during ongoing development so you can look back to see what was done before major changes were done. It is also often used to branch-off a base functional project and expand upon as a new main project. NOTE: you can not copy and move parts of an existing project into another project. You can only copy one complete project and then the copy is a separate project - no active links to the source. |
Move project to workspace | To move a project from current workspace to another workspace. You need admin permissions on both workspaces to be able to execute the move. It is not possible to move projects with custom widgets. Read more in this forum post. |
Leave project | To remove yourself from this project. This can only be done if you are not a user on the Workspace level. |
Delete project | This will mark the project as deleted and will make it unavailable to all users in WEM Modeler. NOTE: This will NOT remove any portal from the Runtime! The applications in the Runtime will continue to work. Read our forum post on how to take a portal offline. |
